At Hobart Women’s Shelter, we believe it is a RIGHT of all women and children to have a safe and secure home. We work together to help you make this happen.

What happens when you call us?

A support worker will talk with you about your situation. We take a few details and give information about HWS services, other services and your options. If there is no safe house available at the time, we ask that you stay in regular contact if you are still requiring accommodation.

What support is offered?

Each woman has her own Support Worker who can help with:

• Practical support for settling into the safe house
• Getting information
• Identifying options
• Making your own decisions
• Exploring the long term accommodation options
• Connecting to services and making sure your needs are met
• Follow-up support after “moving on”
• Youth Workers provide child focused and individually tailored support for children and young people under 18 who are staying in a safe house
